About Middle Ground MKE
The Middle Ground MKE is a Community Organization founded in 2014 by Cheri Fuqua a 20 year resident of Sherman Park, Community Organizer, and graduate of the First cohort of the Neighborhood leadership institute in partnership with Sherman Park. The Middle Ground’s mission is to Engage Youth, their families & the community to Break poverty mindset, reduce violence, juvenile injustice & unemployment.
Black youth in Milwaukee county are 3 times more likely to be arrested, 2 times more likely to be detained, 9 times more likely to be found delinquent, and 3 times more likely to be incarcerated out of home.
Due to these disturbing stats we decided to create a Youth Development program to provide a structured environment to assist the youth to make positive choices.
We accomplish this through building genuine relationships with youth and providing employment opportunities along with resources and life skills necessary for them to becoming thriving, connected and contributing members of the community.

Latest Projects
Mural Unveiling
The Middle Ground MKE partnered with ACES to create a beautiful Mural in Scholar’s Park. Our young people worked hard to beautify this park and create a cool work of art to welcome you to our community.
Milwaukee Environmental Collaboration
The Middle Ground MKE partnered with Students from UWM to build a new canopy at our Unity Orchard to collect rain water for reuse to keep the fruit and vegetables we planted nice and hydrated. #GreenInfrastructure
Rain Barrel Art
The Middle Ground MKE in partnership with ACES enjoyed watching our youth create art on rain barrels to collect water for our fruit trees. Were looking forward to a harvest in 2021.
Summer Program
Week 1 of our Summer Youth Development Program was Awesome! Some quiet time to Read at the library was a perfect way to end our week!
The Big Clean Mke
The Middle Ground MKE youth was out and about in the community helping Alderman Stamper with the Big Clean. Our youth cleaned several blocks as we engaged with the community.
